Internet, I have baked a loaf of bread and it was good!

I started out with a honey wheat bread recipe, which I modified because I have 0 honey but much agave nectar. Then I messed it up by putting all the agave in at once and dumping the flour on the not so ready yeast. But it still bubbled up and even mixing it with my dough hook didn't kill it.

Next time, I'll cook for 35 minutes instead of 40 and grease the sides better, but I rate it a success. I think I shall mainly be making our eating bread at home now, especially since we eat so little of it and this was so easy. I could always freeze loaves.

Photos or it didn't happen:

Cat Beasts

Proof that I do not have cats, I have feral raccoons. Here is Fattus, inspecting an empty popcorn back for potential noms.

Oh, Cat

I'm sitting here on the couch, chilling out, and suddenly, I hear nomming. So I look up and there's the cat, snarfing down something as quick as possible, because I so might steal it. I'm like that.

Now, I cleaned, so there is pretty much nothing on the floor. I'm all CAT, what the fuck are you eating? She scoots off, but before she does, I saw what was in her mouth.

She managed to find the one piece of kettle corn I had dropped. The one edible thing on the floor and she found it. It was, apparently, delicious.

Now that I've established that, I am realizing that Goddammit is both quiet and not where I can see her. This is generally Not Good. Not five seconds later, she comes parading out with one of my ponies in her mouth, which she somehow managed to get off of the doorknob.

What this boils down to is I am stand here, in my underwear, with one cat trying to get her head in my bag of popcorn and the other one about to eat a hair tie. I am trying to decide which one I should do something about. I decided that catching and removing a pony from the cat's bum later on was worse than the other one with the popcorn, so I go to grab her.

She runs, the other one grabs the popcorn and goes, and I'm still standing here, in my underwear, like an idiot.

And of course, soon as I sit down, there goes Goddammit parading by with a dirty band-aid in her mouth. Lather, rinse, repeat. I love that my cats pick trash, really.

Of course, there is a full bowl of fresh water and food that I put out less than an hour ago. But no, band-aids and ponies are so much better. Perhaps Madame would like some potty water to finish dinner off?

Called out sick from work today because I can't even swallow. If I have strep throat, I am going to be so pissed. I mean, I assume I'd know, but hell, even drinking water hurts right now. Best thing I ate yesterday was ice cream.

At least my doctor's office could squeeze me in at 11ish.

The wedding was a lot of fun. I posted a couple pictures on my Flickr and my 365. We saw Watchmen yesterday, which was a lot better than I expected. I know everyone's been saying how epic it was, but meh, I have no faith in a) the movie industry and b) I didn't think the comic book was the Greatest Thing Ever. I will say, it's better on reread now, almost a decade later.

Bleh. Must put shoes on so I can go have a stick jammed down my throat.

ETA: Yep. Strep.

Wow. That was awful. That's all I have to say. Absolutely frakking awful. If this weren't the last episode, I would break up with Battlestar for good.

Last BSG spoilers EVER )

If you'll excuse me, I am now going to go shove my fingers in my ears and hum. La la la.

Eczema

Ok, flist, I have nasty, burning, cracking eczema on my hands from using the work soap. Obviously, I am going to not use industrial soap anymore, but how do I get rid of this ASAP? I am putting loads of lotion on, but what else? It looks gross and hurts.

Okay, flist, I know some of you must've worn false lashes at some point. I have a pair and I'm going to try them.

Please to give me advice and pointers.

(Also, please recommend me red lipsticks. I need to get one.)

I can't believe next week is the second to last episode. Steven and I were talking about it tonight; Battlestar's been on nearly the whole time Steven and I have been together. It's really sad to see it end.

Here be spoilers. )

Rewatch is on and I'm done for now.

Swing

Mar. 5th, 2009 11:55 pm

Steven and I got back a little while for our first night of swing classes. We've been talking about learning to dance for a while and I've occasionally tried to teach Steven a couple of the basics. I love dance; I danced for 10 years as a kid, ballet, jazz, and gymnastics, and took swing lessons the summer I graduated.

Brown Uni has a swing dance club. It's open to the public and, the best part, it's FREE. The class tonight wasn't exactly beginner, but we did talk to the instructors and got a tip about coming to the Monday free dance for more instruction. I know what we'll be doing next Thursday.

I still don't have much of an appetite, so the Flu Diet continues, as well as the weight loss. Good thing about this: losing weight. Bad thing about losing weight: none of my clothes fit anymore.

I had more to write, but I am dead tired.
