Breathe

Still getting over the death flu/pneumonia which is almost at the end of it's third full week. No more vomiting aside Friday the 6th's three bouts of it. It went through the school like wildfire–parents, teachers, everyone. It seems to be making a second round, which I hope to avoid.

The worst lingering feeling is the complete lack of appetite. I've been unable to eat real meals since. Right now, my meal schedule looks like: 16oz of OJ for breakfast, a small amount of what's leftover from lunch (ie. 1 slice of meatloaf, a small scoop of roasted potatoes, and a small scoop of green beans), and pop-tarts for dinner. That's eating when I'm hungry and that's enough to full me up. Poptarts are on there because they're one of the things I can look at and not feel queasy.

The antibiotics I'm taking for the pneumonia is making me feel craptacular and dizzy. I'm very bleh all day. The coughing is still around and when I breathe in, my lungs squeak. I'm constantly tired.

The only bonus is that I'm down a pant size and then a little extra. I might as well get something positive out of this.

More on Fiddler later. I need to get to bed now.

One of the few good things that the elementary school I attended did was have theme weeks. In fourth grade, it was a circus theme. My class room was the former auditorium, so we had huge, high ceilings, so our teacher set up a parachute as the big top, we made carnival games, and so on.

One of the days, we had clowns come in to teach us a handful of circus tricks. I still cannot juggle, but damned if I wasn't really, really good at balancing a broom on my chin. It's one of those cool but not very useful skills.

Until today. The kiddos were a little wound, it being Friday and a week before Halloween, and we'd taken them outside. Still wound. I'm not sure how it came up, but I mentioned something about my amazing balancing act. One of my co-teachers didn't believe me, so in I went to get a broom.

And omg, greatest trick ever. Way better than hoola-hooping around my leg! The kids thought it was awesome. I spent the rest of the afternoon teaching them how to balance the broom on the palms of their hands (with me spotting, obviously).

It entertained them for a good half hour. Useless party trick? Priceless.

You know what's awesome about preschoolers? They are impressed by the littlest things. We have hula hoops on the playground and I was spinning one around my arms and my legs. Greatest thing ever. Totally made my afternoon.

It's MCAS week, kids. While this is nothing but torture for my student, I'm enjoying and extra hour of sleep and rolling in, coffee in hand, at 9:30. Life is good. Or, it would be if my knee wasn't a clicking, grind mess of stupid. Today was still better than Monday, where I started my morning off by stepping in dog poop.

I could have taken tomorrow off, but I opted to go in and help out the Boss Lady. Better than sitting around the house, twiddling my thumbs. At least if I'm at school, I'm obligated to do work on my resume or my website or something.

My appetite has been the pits lately. I've been queasy nearly all day and I just don't feel like eating. Today, I had a piece of bread with peanut butter and agave nectar (Thanks for the recommendation, Jane! It's awesome), a cup of plum lavender honey yoghurt for lunch, and 1/4 of a chicken salad sandwich and 1/2 a cup of soup. I feel like I ate a seven course meal. Before, I was ravenous all the time and now, nothing. I will never understand my body. I supposed I wanted to lose some weight, though.

Nothing much beyond that. No call on the summer job yet. I bought a very cute Mossimo circle skirt and a very 30s looking brown dress at Target yesterday after we went to get a script for Steven's tooth.

And now, I'm off to sleep since my typing abilities have degraded to the point where I would have fewer errors if I sat my ass down on the keyboard.

What's new with you, intartoobz?

Also, would anyone be interested in doing a music mix exchange? A la old mix tapes/CDs?

No School!

In the face of Impending Snow Doom, there shall be no school tomorrow. I'm doing a little dance right now because I can go take pretty, pretty pictures.

Dear School:

It's cold, it's dark, it's VERY icy... So why are you open? I know I went to bed at the normal time, just in case, and I figured that we'd have school, but seriously? Can't we have a two hour delay? I'm tired and I'd really like that extra hour or tow of sleep, not to mention, oh, having the sun melt some of the damn ice before I have to slip and slide my way in.

There is no love here.

PS. Dude, Randolph is closed. They're two towns over. That is so not fair!

I suck slightly less today than when I posted the other day which is why I am posting today.

School was mostly ok. This is Homecoming week, so it's been insane there. There's been sigh vandalism in the class hallways (not good), but all the kids are really into the activities which is kind of fun to see. I'm still going to be glad when it's over though. I will not be attending the pep rally tomorrow; I don't want to spoil my perfect record of in-attendance (really, there will be way too many balloons there.) I've never been to a pep rally.

I hung out with [livejournal.com profile] lauraxmarie for a while after school. I owed her a belated birthday lunch and for once, it took me under a week to produce. I am on top of things this year.

Steven and I went to the Plaza after in hopes of buying shoes. They didn't have any of the shoes I liked in my size, so I blew my gift card on make-up. You know, stuff I obviously need for work, right? I bought Maybe Baby perfume from Benefit because it smells just like L.A.M.B. and isn't supporting Gwen Stefani's thieving ass. They gave me a free gloss (Her Glossiness in My People Your People/Don't Here It From Me) because it was some kind of magical party night at Macy's.

[livejournal.com profile] nowitsdark0 and [livejournal.com profile] justsurvive will also be glad to know that I finally visited a MAC counter. I bought a liquid eyeliner in Point Black and an eye shadow in Black Tied. Haven't tried either yet because 6am will not be the time for experimenting, but I might try it out this week-end when I have time to screw up.

I was a good doobee and did not go to the Mac store to pet the pretty, pretty iMacs.

Now I'm home, I'm damned tired, and my feet are cold. I'm going to bed in a half hour or so and we're watching the Red Sox.
