Week-end Update
Oct. 18th, 2008 06:03 pmI think I'm ready to qualify vertigo as the worst sensation ever. Everything feels like it's swaying or shaking under me. Even sitting up, it kind of feels like I'm being pushed off of something.
We skipped over to the mall after I got off of work so I could cash my cheque at the Evil Empire of America. We were going to go home, but caught a case of the lazies and decided to have dinner at Johnny Rocket's instead. Sometimes you just need greasy food.
Of course I was seduced by Lush, which lies right across from the from the food court. That's the curse of needing to cash my cheque at the mall. Since this is our usual haunt, we're starting to get to know most of the SAs, which is both good and bad, usually for my wallet.
They had Ghost. And I am weak. It smells so good. I also heard the details about the other Halloween products they're putting out, which sound interesting, but not so much my thing.
I did a quick spec out of Sephora because I keep hearing great things about Benefit's creme liner/shadow in Skinny Jeans. It's been in several magazines and I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype before I waste $20 on it. I will say that it did not disappoint. The colour went on really nicely and easily and also seemed very wearable, so I will most likely pick that up next week sometime.
The last stop out was by Old Navy to check the sales rack and batter my self esteem a little. God help me, but I've been looking at skinny jeans so long they've grown on me. I figured one look at my wide ass in them should sufficiently mollify the urge.
I tried them on and they didn't look bad. Steven didn't like them, but the two girls sitting in the fitting room approved. You know, because I need teenage approval. I probably am going to give into the trend, as I have many cute, long winter tops and likewise for flats. Also: I need more pants.
Now I'm just being slothful in my flannel pyjamas, watching TLC like I've been doing, oh, for the last month. Since there's not much else to do with Steven having the car, I'm probably just going to curl up in the shower with my lovely new Ghost in hopes I'll smell omg!awesome.

Date: 2008-10-18 10:49 pm (UTC)I want to try Lush products, but there's no store anywhere near here, and I just can't buy something over the internet without smelling it first. *sigh* What is Ghost supposed to smell like?

Date: 2008-10-18 11:11 pm (UTC)I love Johnny Rocket's. So greasy, but so good.

Date: 2008-10-19 01:41 am (UTC)Lush. They are suppose to open a store at the mall by my house. I thought about applying for part time work..because I was thinking about a parttime job anyway.
I've never actually used/seen the products though. A store at Mall of america carries the line, but I avoid MOA under all costs. The only specialized thing I get there is Bare Escentuals (when I wear makeup) and I can get most of that at Sephora or Ulta.
Although MOA does have this nifty peanut butter restaurant I want to try out...and now I've gone onto a tangent.

Date: 2008-10-19 03:20 am (UTC)I am interested in this peanut butter restaurant you speak of, though MoA kind of conceptually gives me the heebie-jeebies with all the crowds.
The Old Navy ones I tried weren't bad. They weren't skin tight but closer to straight, which I think helped quite a bit. I fully expected them to look awful because I am not a teeny, delicate flower. The inseam did seem kind of short, though, as I tried regulars and I *never* get regulars.

Date: 2008-10-19 03:29 am (UTC)There are a couple of other "cafes" and you can order online for the actual peanut butter they have. I may make the trip. It's only fifteen minutes from my house, but I don't like MOA at all. I think a lot of it is the crowds, I've always had issue with that. Some of it is just the shear size. And really, for the most part, it's just a giant mall. A lot of the stores are repeated. I know there are two Victoria Secrets at least, and two or three Bath and Body Works.
When I was at my lightest, I was around 118 pounds (198 now, I'm pissed). Even then I wore about a size ten. I'm 5'3" so it was all hips. I think a lot of people can pull off the straight look, and it looks good if you can.

Date: 2008-10-19 05:05 am (UTC)MoA is the one with the roller coaster in it, yea?
You actually sound like you're about the same height and weight as me, though my thinnest/size 10ish was 145 :/ I'm definitely large framed, with big hands, big feet, hips and a rack.
Did you see where stirrup pants are the next "in" thing? I hated those bastards when I was a kid and I refuse to see how they're ok now.

Date: 2008-10-19 05:33 am (UTC)Hehe. I wore stirrup pants, but more because I was in teeball and our uniforms were stirrup pants.
I don't like things on my feet other than my socks/shoes. The little zip up footy pajamas? Mom would find me in the morning having unzipped and removed my legs from them...I'd still have them on up top though.

Date: 2008-10-19 06:31 am (UTC)Stirrup pants are totally excusable if they're part of a uniform. My mum liked them because they kept my pants in my boots in the winter.
I'll wear slippers or socks in the house, but I can't sleep with anything on my feet, either. Doesn't matter how cold it is, my feet will be out from under the blankets in the morning.

Date: 2008-10-19 12:54 pm (UTC)I usually don't even like the people in the fitting room commenting on my clothes because you knowwww they have to say nice things about it, so it always comes off as totally disingenuine/borderline sarcastic to me. I'll put on some ill-fitting top in an unflattering color and it's "OMIGOD SERSLEY. SERSLEY. THAT IS SEW. KEWT. SERSLEY. YOU SHOULD GET THAT LIKE. NOW." Yeah, you work here. Of course you want me to get that.
I'm skinny and skinny jeans just don't look good on me, IMO. I tried with a pair or two and inevitably they would either be way too baggy at the top and get the Mom Pants look, or they'd be really short and too skinny at the cuff and look like I got the wrong size :/

Date: 2008-10-19 04:13 pm (UTC)Their conversation was priceless.
My sister has said the same thing about the skinny jean trend. She said they give her worse chicken legs than she already has.
