Soy Cheese

It disturbs me a great deal that soy cheese singles actually taste slightly better than Kraft singles. There is something fundamentally wrong with that...

That said, lunch was good. In my brief kick of eating somewhat healthier and partly because I really like soy products, I bought Nayonaise yesterday, along with aforementioned soy cheese, with the express intent of making tuna melts. I kind of fail because I used real tuna, but fish is the whole reason I would never be able to be a vegetarian. I love the cow, but I could live without it.

Anyhow, so it was actually fairly tasty. Nayonaise tastes better than I remember it tasting a good decade ago and it's still better than Miracle Whip. Christ, I hate that shit. Plus, it didn't make me feel queasy like regular mayo normally does. My stomach, apparently, has decided that it will no longer handle greasy/oily/fatty foods and, since I am actually listening to it for once, perhaps I will actually lose some weight instead of just being sick all the time.

I still totally lack motivation today. I cleaned up the hard drive on the PC yesterday and I'm going to try and do the same here today. New(ish) computer is coming on Friday, so maybe I'll be able to get more work done faster for once. Still haven't started my painting, mostly because I figure if I'm really unmotivated, I shouldn't screw around. I also still need to clean my paint tray.

I dumped the photos of Kitteh and the beach yesterday, so I'll be posting those later on my my DeviantArt later today. Still working on the website and toying with new things for the gallery aspect, so hopefully I'll get that done this week.

I wish I weren't do cranky.

I can't stand soy cheese or kraft singles. :-/ I was hoping Wyn would like the soy cheese but no go for her. She can't stand it.

Kraft singles really bother me a lot. This was my first foray in a decade into soy cheese and it was decent.

Steven just kind of makes a face at me when I eat it and reminds me that soy, in his world, makes your boobs get bigger.

I have yet to try to Vegannaise or any of that type thing. Then again, I was never a huge fan of mayo unless it was in tuna sandwiches. My friend Christa told me about a "tuna salad" made from chickpeas. I'll have to look that up sometime.

I hear Tuno is pretty scary. Chickpea salad sounds delicious, though. I should try this.

I have Nayonaise right now. I've never tried Vegannaise. Nayonaise reminds me a bit of egg salad flavour.

Yea, I generally prefer real cheese except when I'm making grilled cheese or tuna melts or something. Kraft, for me, is bottom of the barrel. It's totally like eating orange plastic.

It makes you wonder if soy is on the verge of something even bigger.

According to Steven, it's what's causing bigger breasts in America. Perhaps you are right.

I actually like the taste of soy. I was probably dropped on my head a lot as a kid or something.

whole grain pita, sliced and ready to stuff
grated carrots, enough to fill pita pocket
other veg like lettuce, tomato, and bean sprouts
shredded cheddar, soy or real
nayonaise and dijon to taste

Spread the condiments in pita pocket, add the rest of the ingredients, put in a skillet with butter, oil, etc to grill it. add some apple bits for a twist.

That sounds really good, aside from the carrots. Think it would be good with broccoli instead?

If shredded or chopped up small enough, possibly. But then it would be a broccoli and cheddar melt instead of a carrot and cheddar melt.

Yay! Everyone thinks I'm mental for loving soy cheese. But, uh, when my only other choice is processed cheese, soy is mighty fine. I think soy sour cream (Tofutti) tastes better than real sour cream, and I was a sour cream FREAK.

My next adventure will be Vegannaise. I'm actually out of mayo at the moment and that's all that's in the fridge.

I don't know if you can have yoghurt, but greek yoghurt is also an awesome sour cream sub. I'll have to try the Tofutti next time I'm out of stuff.

I'm liking my Nayonaise. It's a lot less oppressive than regular mayo and it makes me a lot less queasy.

Have you tried rice cheese, btw? I think that's my next step.
