Wtf!?

What the frak is up with the Gary Jules's cover of Mad World being used to promote some war video game? Seriously. That doesn't strike me as a shoot-em up kind of song.

I still feel pretty lousy today. Steven ran late today, so I ended up picking up Elliott from school. He had almost all gold stars today and I had to pee, so I told him we could drop by the new Target, ostentatiously to just buy deodorant since I used the Adidas stuff once and immediately broke out into a rash. Back to Mitchum I go. So, of course, I go by the dollar spot and find some snowflake ribbon and snowflake paper and grab that. Then Elliott asked if he could get a small toy. Yea, all right. He picked out a baby giraffe which was thankfully under $4. Then we made the mistake of going by ornaments. I was really good and did not yet buy a Hello Kitty ornament, but I did Elliott pick out his one ornament for the tree here. $17 later...

Even better, as we were leaving, Elliott saw the popcorn, which I admit smelled awesome. Elliott asked and I said no, since we were running late for karate already. He looks at me and says "But Sam, I love food! I'll die without it!" Good try and I thought the woman next to us was going to burst, but maybe next time.

Blah blah blah, karate... Dinner for the kid and McD's and a very late lunch for us. I was tired by then, so I headed home. Part of the drive smelled eeriely of spray fix, which cracked me up for some reason, probably from inhaling way too much of it in high school. Ahh, working the joys of working with charcoal...

I had a fit of inspiration tonight when we got home, so I finished the kissing ball and the toss bouquet. We're meeting with the DJ and the photog next week. Things are finally pulling together a little. Ugh, and I need to make an appointment sometime next week for my first fitting, around the middle of the month. I also need to start breaking my shoes in.

Ugh. Something's outside screaming, probably the fishercat again.

It looks deceptively nice outside today, but it's coooold here. Yesterday, it was warm, but it poured all afternoon.

Beth and I went to Borders for tea yesterday afternoon. They have a full pot of tea for $2.50, which is about three cups a person. Their jasmine was really good, the Earl Grey, which I usually love, was only so-so. After two pots, we decided to head up to  Burlington Coat Factory to see if she could find a new outfit to wear out that evening. She found a very nice brown suit and shirt to wear and it was under $50 as well.By that point, we'd totally lost track of time and it was closing in on 6pm, so I dropped Cynthia and her off at home and headed back to my house.

I wore my new push-up bra and kimono top yesterday and holy christ do my boobs hang out if I don't wear a cami underneath. It totally became part of my Halloween costume, probably the one I wear to Alice Cooper. I seriously have knockers in that shirt. I mean, not that I don't to begin with, but this shirt makes them look amazing.

We got the Alice Cooper tickets the other day. Woo.

I definitely am going to shoot Steven for ever getting me into watching Battlestar. I didn't need another addiction, but alas, I have one. We're going back and forth on picking up the second season because right now, I'm basing my knowledge off of who's fucking whom and therefore often confused because of the clones. Not to mention, we have a $25 giftcard to Borders from my BIL and I think I have a coupon for 20% off any item, so it would be like $25 for the second season. Maybe we'll do that tonight since I totally just paid down my credit card.

I threw my back out this afternoon and that really reassured me that I am making the right decision by getting a breast reduction this summer. I was leaning over the table, sorting out bank statements and my back spasmed. It's a little better now, but not much since Elliott wanted to be picked up and I stupidly agreed without thinking. O hay, back pain. I'll get out the exercise ball tonight and roll over it and see if that'll help, but probably not. Otherwise, I'll go to the doctor's Monday and document, document, document.

My cheapo pants arrived from Delia*s yesterday. I actually will be keeping both pairs, though they are two different sizes and the smaller of the two sizewise is actually the bigger physically. For $5.99 each, though, I won't question it. I'll just be happy they fit and I now have pants that aren't falling off my bum every time I move. I forgot how much I liked their clothes; I have a few things from when I worked in Natick that are very cute and very comfy.

We're taking the kid to pick a pumpkin tomorrow. He was good for the rest of week and pretty good today, so we told him he could chose an outing for tomorrow and he wanted to pick and carve a pumpkin. Sounds good to me. I would like to see if I can obtain some apples tomorrow and possibly make a pie. I need to put the camera batteries up to charge, so I can take pictures too. Must remember.

Steven and I are off to the magical land of BJ's tonight after I finish updating this. Our fridge is barren and the cupboards aren't a lot better. We had subs last night because it was that or go to the store. It worked out because I saved half for my lunch today. Go me.

Bah. I still need to put on make-up and get ready to go. Let's see how willing and able my back is.

I've been using this icon a lot, but I'm so bloody tired.

Took the kid out for ice cream and McD's the other day (because I'm Stepmom of the Year) and we were talking about the hurricane that was coming up the coast. He was all kinds of nervous about it, so I was telling him it had been ages since we'd been directly hit because the water's too cold and plus we had the cold front, etc. The last one I remember was Bob in, I think, 1992 when I wasn't much older than him. Conversation goes as follows:

Me: I wasn't much older than you when Bob hit.
E: Was it scary? Did you die!?
Me: (not thinking, sarcastically) Yes, E, I died.
E: (misses sarcasm, gets very excited)  Really!?
Me: No, E, not really.
E: (massively disappointed) Oh. (gives me a a look like I just kicked a puppy with a lolly in its mouth)

E is definitely Steven's son. The following conversation happened sometime later that day:

Me: (yammering on about something I've forgotten, makes a speading/shooing motion with my hands) Blah blah blah PANTIES!
Steven: (repeats gesture) What's that?
Me: (again, sarcastic) That's the international sign for PANTIES.
Steven: (gets excited) Really!?!?
Me: No. Not really.
Steven: Oh. (pause) You know, I would've believed you if you said yes.

[livejournal.com profile] pinkandsilver's heard this story 14 times now. I think we all were drinking the margaritas when it was first repeated. Christ on a stick but I'm tired.

Duh

Totally forgot to post this last night. Our little guy lost his first tooth and has a second loose one! How exciting is that?

Yay!

Baby blanket is done and photos will be forthcoming on the next sunny day, since my flash is broken.

Also, I started a community for [livejournal.com profile] youngstepmoms. I know a few people on my list might be interested, so please feel free to join. Right now, it's just me and [livejournal.com profile] suzabelle7.

The blanket over the window did not work as well as I had originally hoped. I can see it billowing in the breeze, in fact, right now, as I'm typing. It reached a balmy 7 degrees today. I was practically ready to grab my bathing suit and go for a swim with the goosicles in Dorchester Bay, had it not been nearly completely iced over. I can hear the wind whipping around outside... sounds like cars driving by. It's so cold in here right now, in fact, that I'm not only wearing my sweatpants and one of Steven's work shirts that I need to throw in the hamper (in hopes that I somehow might have one full load to do when I go to the laundromat later this week), but also socks, my Hello Kitty slippers, and my ratty green terry robe. Sigh, I should buy a new one while there's still a sale at Vicky's, but I don't really have the cash.

I'm super tired, for some reason. We slept in this morning, till 10:30, since there was no school. Wimps. -10 is nothing compared to what I had to go to school in while I was in Proctor. I remember having school when it was -44 and the only reason I didn't go was because the car fluids had literally frozen/turned to slush. Tangent over. We went to ye olde UMass both to harass administration (no dice, my app is still with The Committee) and lunch with Donna (more like brunch. Made Steven sick, too greasy for me). The we came back here, watched Shanghai Knights, which is plot-lite, but cute, with lots of neat-o stunts and jiggly, jiggly breasts. Then we ...relaxed... somemore.

I started feeling it while we were introducing the 11th. Commandment (Thou shalt not chew with thy mouth open) at dinner. After the eleven hundreth time of saying this, followed by much pouting (wonder where he gets that from...), attempted cuteness to deflect attention from aforementioned open mouth chewing, followed by cries of needing Mommy and silencing of them with responses of Mommy would not let you chew with your mouth open, either, I started feeling very, very tired. Ultimately, we distracted him by teaching him such good, useful words as "Nasghoul", "Rohan", and "Aragorn".

Tangent: Does anyone find the nasghoul a hell of a lot less frightening with the knowledge that their unholy screams are really just the heehawing of donkeys with a little echo on it?

Tomorrow, I'm going on the hunt to find a funton cover and some material for drapery. It's high time I start making this place look a little more like my home, rather than a prefurnished place. I'm planning on rearranging the furniture next week-end, when I'm able to get things a little cleaner. We're still super cluttered from Christmas. In fact, most of Steven's and my presents are still sitting where they were on Christmas day. Go me. At least the tree is down and the Boy Scouts have been paid to haul its carcass off.

I want to rewire my new art before I go to bed. Must remember.

What else..? I have to spend Sunday in purgatory again. I need to look for a new job, but I haven't had much energy lately. Even my sex drive has taken a hit: I've actually not wanted it every day! I think I have a little bit of a bug, though, coupling the deadly exhaustion with a bit of an upset stomach and sore throat. I'm sure I'll recover completely, though.

I need more sudafed and sleep. Tomorrow should be action packed and exciting.
