There is nothing more awesome than being able to actually do laundry in my own damn house. Nothing.

We finally decided that, as our big Christmas present, to buy a portable washing machine. BJ's had one that we had been looking at since September, but it was kind of expensive, so we had been holding off. The other night, we went in to buy cards and they had the last model for a good discount. The washer came home with us for $120.

I finally decided that I would ruin some of my own clothes first as an experiment. First try, I got sprayed in the face because the hose wasn't tightened. It took me a minute to get used to the way it works, but I think I have the hang of it, now that I am on my second load.

Most of my stuff is hang dry anyway, so this completely eliminates having to go to the laundromat today. It is so worth every cent we paid.

And now I'm going back to cleaning.

Oh girl can I relate! After years and years of lugging copious amounts of laundry to the laundry mat and spending gobs amount of money on overpriced and filthy laundry mats we finally moved into a house that had a washer/dryer hook up. Because I would only do laundry every two weeks at the mat, seeing as what a pain in the ass it was, often some laundry didn't get done as frequently, such as sheets, towels, and clothes that I only needed occasionally. So often all that would pile up and then I would have to spend hours at the mat. The first week that we got the washer and dryer I pulled out all the excess laundry and did it all. I also took the time to wash things that were clean, but needed refreshing too. I was so happy not to have to lug pounds of laundry anywhere. Now, I do my own personal laundry once a week. Towels, sheets and such are done on an as needed basis. I used to complain so much about doing laundry, now I just do it. The only thing that would make it better is if the washer and dryer were on the second floor where the bedrooms are, but there is no hook up and no where to put it. I'm not complaining though!

Congratulations on your new purchases. Enjoy!

It is damn expensive to go to the laundromat! We'd seriously go sometimes a month between going sometimes and just do emergency loads when we went to my grandparents. I mean, we're still going to have to do socks, undies, towels, and sheets at the laundromat, but I'll deal! It's going to cost so much less.

I am so enjoying laundry. I think I'll do a couple more loads tomorrow.

I almost bought one of those once! I would have had to get the dryer thingy, too, though, so I think that's why I didn't. But I know that feeling of relief. <3

I hand dry nearly all my clothes, so it's not a huge deal for me. Plus, waiting a few hours for it to dry is nothing compared to several weeks for the laundromat.
