Steven and I went to check out our first potential reception site on Thursday. We went to a friend's wedding last October here. Steven is an alumni of UMB and I will be going there in the fall (hopefully!). The pictures are of the ballroom, we would be using 2 sections, and the terrace, where we would potentially have our ceremony.

UMB proposed $3,978 for the two sections and use of the terrace. This includes the 5% Mass Meals Tax, a dance floor, tables and chairs, University police (detail is required for any function with a bar), and staff and their overtime. Catering is not included and our function couldn't start until after 6, which is fine, because we were thinking starting at 7 and having heavy hor d'oeuvres instead of a dinner.





























This is our top choice of venue. I'm a little leery of the price, since our budget isn't huge. We also intend to talk to them and see if maybe they can offer us a slightly better deal for a Friday/winter/between holidays date.

if they can get it for you for cheaper than they are quoting now, get it...this place will look like a wintry fairyland when you guys use it...gosh i am so envious, but happy for you too! *huggs you*

We went to a wedding there in October that was amazing. Donna barely needed to decorate because of the view of the city. Can you imagine how pretty that would be at night?

I really hope they can do a little better for us than what they're quoting now. We need to look into a couple other places and then go back and hope. That's our top choice, right now.
