New England Moment

devilgrrlToday, I had an only in New England moment on the way home. I was listening to the radio and heard the snippet about "donning your cheese head and dog mask", regarding tailgating.
I was listening and thought to myself, "How can you 'darn' something. You'd have to 'don' it."
It never occurred to me that they weren't speaking with The Accent. If you're from outside of this area, don and darn are pronounced almost exactly the same, with the slight exception that darn may be pronounced dahhn, as opposed to dohn.
It took me five minutes to realise that dahhn was simply the guy's way of pronouncing "don".
Only in New England.
