I pretty much just assured that I will be thrown out of our bed to sleep on the couch. I have ached terribly all day, so I just slathered my body with BenGay. Much like a cat, Steven hates the wintergreen smell of BenGay with a passion usually reserved for hating, say, the devil. He's probably wincing right now even though I am sitting on the couch in the living room because his muscle rub sense is tingling.

I personally love the stuff. My gramma uses it all the time. I remember as a kid begging to her to let me have a little because I loved the smell. It's the same reason that I love Wint-O-Green Lifesavers. After I had knee surgery and before I discovered the wonder that is Ultracet, I used to slather it all over my knee at night because it was the only way I could sleep without Pain. The Ultracet has mostly made it possible to live a life without Pain, but some nights, I need the burning help of BenGay.

It's practically the Balm of Gilead and even though I reek of it now, I am a million times more comfortable. If my back hurts from sleeping on the couch, well, I'll just use more in the morning.

I love the smell too, and though I haven't had a wint-o-green lifesaver (or any lifesaver for that matter) in years, that used to be the only kind I liked when I had braces (I couldn't chew gum).

One time my dad accidently brushed his teeth with bengay. hahahaha. That sucked!

I actually started with the Lifesavers because of having my wisdom teeth out. I haven't really chewed gum much since.

I can't fathom the burning that must've caused.

I love BenGay too. It is great for my knee too. I now use the vanishing scent kind so my husband will tolerate living with me. Once I got some on the doorknob and he touched it and then scratched himself and I almost died laughing.
I hope you feel better.

Steven, after cycling, once had me run some on his back and I thought he was going to explode. He only uses Tigerbalm now.

It actually did work. Of course, now I have the headache of doom, but that's ok.

That happened to me the one time I used Icy Hot. That stuff is evil.
The smell of BenGay always reminds me of my mom because she loves to douse herself in it before she goes to bed at night.
I hope your head feels better.

I have a love/hate thing with Icy Hot. I tend to like to look at it because it's so gellike and blue.

He actually woke from a dead sleep to ask me if I had been using BenGay. I told him no and he went back to sleep. I'm surprised I didn't have to sleep on the porch with the beer.

I'm with you, love the wintergreen smell (did you ever eat checkerberries? a crazy little berry that grows wild, often in graveyards with a wintergreen taste!)

I love those Lifesavers, too - especially when you crunch them with the lights off and your mouth open and can see the sparks!

I love the sparks. I always thought that was an urban legend, but no... So awesome!

I've never heard of checkerberries, but I'm going to be on the lookout for them now.

Is Bengay like Icy Hot? If so, awesome. I use the generic brand, so it is called "CoolHeat." But it does the same thing. That shit can cure ANYTHING. Three cheers! (also, I love vicks vaporub).

Vicks Vaporub is so awesome too! I used to love when my mum would break that out when I was a kid.

BenGay indeed is a close cousin to IcyHot. I used to use the CoolHeat patches on my knee. So awesome. That stuff could definitely cure death, it's so amazing.

You definitely should. It takes a little getting used to, but it is amazing. It cures aches that even my Ultram won't touch.

If you have bad joints, the patches are unbelievable.
