Bed Day

Well, today is Bed Day. It's due here between 9am and noon, so here I am, sitting up, watching Battered Teens on Maury, and doing the waiting thing.

Yesterday was the worst effin' day at work. Ugh. After Sunday, when the girl who was supposed to be working with me called in (this was the second time she was scheduled to work and the fourth time she had called in) and I was stuck by myself all day, as well as the register being messed up, I came in, figuring a 4 1/2 hour shift should be a breeze. I had no customers the whole time, until about 8:50, when this creepy old man came in. Since he was just puttering around, I figured I would start cashing out, since it takes me half an hour to do it, anyhow.

Then, at literally 9:29, he comes up and buys a $4 item, effectively messing up my whole count. So I'm trying my damnedest to remain polite and he has the nerve to ask me why I can't be a little more pleasant. I politely inform him that he ruined 30 minutes worth of work and, since I had to make change, I would now have to recount. So he says to me "Well, that's not my fault." Oh, wait, which other asshole came in and bought a shitty basket.

So I begin to recount. At 9:45, he comes back in! He walks around my store, retrieves another shitty basket, comes to the counter and tells me that he would like this one as well. Hey buddy, this store is closed and has been so for the last 15 minutes. I tell him this and he says I'm being rude and that he's going to report me to customer service. I told him to go right ahead; they were out of there at 9:25!

I'm really glad that I don't have to work tonight. I'd probably kill someone. I'll deal with it, though, because I should get an extra hour on my paycheque. Yay!

Matt and I are going to the Marshfield Fair on Thursday as a sort-of belated 21 month anniversary celebration. It's hard to believe that it's been that long, sometimes. It really doesn't seem like it could possibly be almost two years. I've also never been to the Marshfield Fair and I'm dying to go. It's ironic that I haven't been to a fair in three years and now I'm going to this one as well as one in Vermont next weekend.

I need to call Blaine and... wow, the delivery guys are here.

For your amusement... I would like to know who, exactly, this wanker thought he was fooling. The names have not been changed to protect the "innocent".

I have the most obnoxious sore throat. I don't understand how on earth I can be sick in the middle of August. Summer's supposed to be all about running around half-nekkid and swimming and what am I doing? Sitting in front of the computer, drinking vanilla tea with lots of honey because my throat feels like I've gargled with razors.

Good god, I'm whiny. If I don't watch it, I'm going to start sounding like Weenie Boy.

On a somewhat happier, less whiny note, I found some awesome lights today at the Plaza. They're oriental style laterns with little Christmas lights inside them and they're printed with dragons and kanjii on the outside. They are also $29. I might try to pick them up on Saturday. They have a few other really cool things at the cart, too. I'm just not sure how much use I could get out of them.

I'm also going to try and get fabric for the drapes this weekend, as well. I'm so excited that my room is finally starting to shape up. Soon, it's going to look like a bedroom instead of a hotel room. I want to get some plants to put in here, as well as maybe a small fish tank to add a little life to the room. I should be able to get this all put together by the beginning of October. Plus, having a lived-in room will give me incentive to keep it clean.

The bed is completely awesome. I keep forgetting it's a waterbed, though, and getting freaked out when I step on it and it moves. But sleeping on it is great. Since it's warm, I don't wake up achy... or, at least, I haven't yet. I sort of wish I had room for a queen, but this is what fits and it's still bigger than my ex-mattress. That and this mattress, just by itself, is really nice looking. It's pale green and silver damask.

Anyhow, I'm going to go and call my very awesome gramma because I haven't talked to her in a couple of days.
