haha. Racetrack cracks me up. My dear kitty Velvet when I was a kid used to do that too. I meant it when I said "the cat ate my homework"!
I would be inclined to believe that your grandmother provided the violets for your enjoyment. Perhaps she came to visit when you guys were moving in and thought the lawn needed some sprucing up. :-)
