Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

I yell at my kids in class when they use any kind of slang, the most often of which is "gay". It's bad when they said it and then immediately respond with "I know, I know, does [said object] prefers members of its same sex." because that's how I'll respond.

I remember when girls were just catty and Heathers had still scared some sense into them. Alas. It was a good movie, too.
