Flushed Away is by the same people who did Wallace & Grommit. I might actually go see that. Or rent it, which is more likely.
I finally got around to making an appointment for the doctor. I've been getting awful pains in my abdomen for over a month now and I decided to stop fooling around and finally go. So I make nice chitchat with my doctor's office staff, they ask about wedding plans, and I pee in a cup. I've been convinced that the sharp pains I've been feeling were an ectopic pregnancy, because I am paranoid. The rational side of my brains says ovarian cysts.
Good news: I am not pregnant. Bad news: There's blood in my urine.
So the doctor asks the usual host of questions: does it burn when you pee (no), are you feeling a frequent need to go (no), are you going more than usual (no). So she figures that I probably don't have a UTI, but probably did and it's gone into my kidneys. That or a kidney stone. Yay. She perscribed me a week's worth of sulfa drugs and to call if the pain doesn't go away.
Can I just say that I hate Pier One? They're so bloody snooty there. I tried to call about a new frame for a papasan chair yesterday and the line was busy all day. I mentioned it to the woman today when we went in and she acted like I was being a jerk for calling. We're going to get the dark frame (here) and the Mediterranea cushion (here). After that, as well as finding out the sale was over, we decided to just get the chair next week-end when we can borrow the Jeep from Mum. The woman made a huge deal about us asking if they were in stock because they were up on a high shelf. She wanted to know if we wanted any other colour instead because the blue cushions were on the top shelf in their stockroom.
Now we definitely weren't buying it tonight.
Then, she started to get pushy about us buying it now and assuring us it was "no big deal" to look to see if she had it, as long as we were planning on buying it. Sorry, no. We'll go to either the Weymouth store or the Braintree store next time. I hate Pier One, I really do. I know you're not supposed to look a gift horse in the mouth, but of all the stores my BIL had to find to get us a gift card to...
We're registered at Bed, Bath, & Beyond and JC Penney's. That translates to Pier One and Crate & Barrel, apparently, to everyone who hears it. At least Crate & Barrel has things we both like. Pier One? Very hard pressed.
I did, however, buy an apple and oak scented candle. Soooo nice.
I blew $10 on various discontinued stationary from Michaels. No good yarn, though. We had dinner at Baja Fresh while I waited for my scripts to get filled. My haircolour's on sale at Brooks, so I'm going to find my coupon and pick up two tomorrow, I think.
The new Mass healthcare reform is bullshit. You have to pay for it and the government will reimburse you or you get a tax penalty for not having it. I can't tell you how stupid this is. I mean, really, does our idiot governor really think that people are just sitting around, uninsured, because they're too cheap to pay for insurance? It would've cost me, for single coverage, about $400 a month and that wasn't even that great of a plan. There was no way I could afford that. It's almost half my rent money. And forget MassHealth, unless you have a child under 19 who lives with you, it's nigh on impossible to get coverage. I got $111 a week in unemployment before taxes and I "made too much". How little do you need to earn? I can tell you that money did not go very far beyond gas and food.
Back to watching the Simpsons. I should light my candle. Steven bought me a little snowflake rubber stamp today and my mum bought us a bottle of wine.
Speaking of Mum, she won't be having surgery Tuesday. I guess the second procedure site isn't totally healed yet. New date is November 14th.
We're going to my grandparents on Monday and then I'm going to buy pants since... I'm now employed! I'm going to be subbing starting on Tuesday. Yay for decent money which really means yay for paying for our honeymoon.
Good luck wishes and prayers for
mom_o_cass who's having surgery tomorrow. Call if you need anything.
