Amusing Points in an otherwise sucky day
Aug. 31st, 2006 02:35 amI learned stuff today. Beth and I are like 8th cousins and probably related through a couple sides of the family, including the Whites, the Howards, and the Pratts (who I think founded Weymouth). Second, my relative founded Chatham, which he seemingly bought from the indians for cows, because he just couldn't get along in Yarmouth. He already was shooed out of England because he couldn't get along their, either. Third, a cousin Thomas married Dorcas Sparrow, who was the daughter of a Captain J. Sparrow. There's a bit of movie trivia there.
Lastly, I may be eligible to join DAR because I have two Revolutionary War relatives, the former mentioned Thomas and his father (also Thomas). I sent off a request for information on that.
I can add piracy in, as well, because two of the How relatives (Andrew and James) sailed in Captain Kidd's crew. Funny enough, the original ancestor was a tailor. I haven't gotten far enough in the geneology to find out when the family went to the sea. I should see about scanning a couple of these things. I'm too amused.
