I think that's some of the reason we've decided to do it twice. Vegas is going to be for us. Vegas has always appealed to me, especially the Elvis part, and as soon as I mentioned it, Steven's eyes lit up. Plus, it's an excuse for blowing off his insane family without looking like we're blowing just them off.

We've come to the conclusion that we'll have a wedding-wedding sometime after we get back. We also want to incorporate the kids into our life/wedding, as well as shut my damn mother-in-law up once and for all. (Of course, if she keeps going like she is, we'll just lock her in a closet or something.) It's the best compromise we could think of, considering we know for damn sure Elliott's mother would never in a million years let him go to Vegas.

I also want to do the full blown thing so Steven has a chance to have a say in what he wants. At his first wedding, he was involved in no part of the planning, picking out the china, etc, and was told just to show up (insinuating that he could possibly screw that up too.)

I should write her a thank you note, really. Her filing for divorce was the best thing to happen.

I totally appreciate your advice. It's so true that too many people freak over everything being perfect and therefore enjoying no part of their wedding. Only one couple out of our friends truly embodied the love for the day. It was doubly special, since they could only marry recently. Yay for Mass legalizing gay marriage. They truly enjoyed the celebration of the beginning of a new part of their life, rather than My God, The Wedding Must Be Perfect!

Well, this was a book.
