Two Cat Night

Bloody cold today.

The can of my Dr Pepper smells eerily like a watermelon Jolly Rancher. It's the damnedest thing. I keep smelling it and it takes me a minute before I recognize the smell. It's not bad, per se, just kind of odd.

Today was Alex's pirate themed welcome home party. I figure there's enough seafaring in my family that I didn't really need to dress up. I wore my new Bisou Bisou dress and knee high boots, plus bunches of earrings and assorted and sundry jewelry, so that should be close enough. It was still a little more authentic than some of the drugstore costumes, I think. The party wasn't bad, but the smell of chicken was totally making me queasy today and it was very warm at Alex and Joy's, so all in all, I didn't feel very good. Halloween party in two weeks; hopefully I'll feel better then.

We came back here so I could change really quickly before going to the glorious mall, as well as grab the coupons I had. I had to pick DARE week-end to go to the mall; tonnes of balloons everywhere. I couldn't find jeans at Old Navy. My size was sold out completely. Go me. We did buy a candle in Yankee (Sparkling Pine) before we headed out through Sears so I could hopefully not die.

We had a kind of blah dinner at Panera. There was scary wilted lettuce under my sandwich which, in turn, had very little chicken on it. My soup was just ok, so I'm a bit of a sad badger about it.

We ended up not getting in touch with Kenny the Photographer, so instead we decided to go to Ocean State and the new, magical Target. According to Elliott, at least, this place is pretty much on par with minor deities and can cure most known diseases. I thought it was kind of overpriced, but what can you say? He's almost six. I guess all new stores are pretty amazing then.

There were no lighters at Ocean State, which was our main reason for going. Instead, we found yarn for another blanket I'll be knitting, mustard powder, which Steven pretty much made babies with in the aisle, and lots of discontinued make-up colours. I'm happy with my cheapie Revlon glosses and kohl liquid liner. I found a pair of Spongebob socks for my nephew for a start of his Christmas and birthday presents.

Target was, as stated, kind of expensive. We didn't get an awful lot because of the prices, though I did get a good deal on Noxema 4 bladed razors. I saw a couple skirts I really liked, but a) not paying $40 for Target clothes and b) the Framingham and Kingston ones have way better selections. It still cost us $30 to get out of there. I bought the new Cosmo because my subscription hasn't started yet. I also found the anti-fog window cleaning clothes, so I did a little dance and bought them.

I might've struck out on clothing at the mall, but I came home to an email about last chance bargains from Delia*s. On a whim, I checked it out and got two pairs of pants for $25.93 with shipping. I win today, don't I? I'm betting at least one pair won't fit, though, since I ordered two different sizes. You never know with clearance, though, and even in Old Navy, I wear a different size in jeans than I do in pants, so maybe.

I think that's really all we did today. Steven went to bed already and I'm going to go soon because I'm tired and I want to finish reading my magazine. I finally broke down and put the heavy quilt on the bed since it's chilly, as you can see by my icon.

Ok, news is definitely over and I am definitely going to bed.

I wish I had the old quilt my grandmother gave me. Before she handed it to me she told me the whole story about how it was made by a group of Amish women and that it would last forever. I had it for a good fifteen years before it somehow got lost in a move. Damn, I wish I still had that quilt.

I have one from my great grandparents that we never use somewhere. This is a cheap Hanes jersey knit one from Ocean State Job Lot. This cold weather's not doing much for me.

Reading about your shopping quests reminds me of many-a-day in my life. You seem to shop in the very same places as I do. Hmmm.

I need a catchall store where I can get get everything.
