Yay!

I think I may have found the veil I want to go with. Ironically, it was on one of my mom's mannequins in her art closet. I started drooling over it and she told me I can borrow it. So, of course, I took a bunch of pictures of what it looks like with my headpiece.

My Dress, for reference

The circlet alone

This is the potential veil.

I really love this veil, but it appears to be slightly off-white. It definitely needs a cleaning. I just don't know how it will look with a white gown.

I love your veil and dress. It think it looks really nice together.

I mean I not it. Apparently I can't type today.

Thank you! You don't think it'll look dingy against a bright white dress?

(I've had one long braincramp all damn day.)

Have you tried it on with your dress? Everything looked dingy next to my bright white dress. I ended up buying silver shoes because I couldn't find any I liked that looked white against my dress.

I actually haven't yet. I literally found it in my mom's art closet at school today.

I have silver and lucite shoes, too. As my mom disdainfully said, they're total hooker shoes. I should take pictures.

I must see your hooker shoes. My mom thinks all of my shoes are hooker shoes or shoes like her grandmother wore.

Ask and you shall receive :)

I'll probably get a pair to dance in, as well.

Ooh, it reminds me of my mum's wedding dress. It was much 'spensive, long sleeves, looooooong, the material was very heavy (and like, I think there are like, diamonds (I dunno if they're fake or not) sewn onto it). But she got married in August. So she was sweating to death. But she looked lovely.

[identity profile] devilgrrl.livejournal.com 2005-12-14 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god, LJ ate my comment.

This dress was a David's Bridal $299 special. I'm super glad I'm getting married in the winter, though. Mine has wee bitty pearls and I think some rhinestones, too.

You should recognize the veil. It's on the mannequin in my mom's room.

Did you take those after I left? I'm so fucking nosy!!

[identity profile] devilgrrl.livejournal.com 2005-12-14 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I totally did because I'm an idiot and didn't think to ask you to take pictures while you were here.

I'm so excited my face looks thinner. I should make an icon out of one these.

Honestly, I like the circlet by itself. I'm soooo hippie.
...Of course, I didn't have a veil at all and really wanted one. *sigh*
so... have a veil! do it! *shuts up*

(I'm very tired, sorry.)

:( I understand veil lust. I really, really, really want a veil too. I was dancing around in it yesterday.

I should take pictures of the other tiara I have to wear at the reception, one of these days.

You guys should totally have a renewal of vows so you can have the wedding you want. We'd totally come.

I'm totally a veil whore.

[identity profile] plunkybug.livejournal.com 2005-12-15 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I had a veil at either ceremony.

[identity profile] devilgrrl.livejournal.com 2005-12-15 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I love them. I had a hat with a veil that I loved.

Try to get it professionally steam cleaned and see if it perks up in color. I found a vintage dress at an old shop for the Jewish ceremony (real one was Shakespearean in costume). I found it perked up after a good steaming.

[identity profile] plunkybug.livejournal.com 2005-12-15 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It couldn't hurt to try. It is just steam, nothing else.

[identity profile] devilgrrl.livejournal.com 2005-12-15 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if it's stained or not, though. Before living in my mom's art closet, it lived in an attic.

[identity profile] plunkybug.livejournal.com 2005-12-16 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Steaming should lift just all over dinge. You could try oxy clean or something like that.

[identity profile] devilgrrl.livejournal.com 2005-12-17 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Where do I find OxyClean?

[identity profile] devilgrrl.livejournal.com 2005-12-18 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool.
