Grr

Oh my frakking GOD! The Scotch Guard coating is the worst stuff ever. I've been trying to give it a chance, but I cannot keep the damn things clean. They're always smeared or fuzzy or something. I seriously need to go back to Lenscrafters and get different lenses because these are the worst thing ever.

Does anyone else have this problem or am I alone?

I've had that problem before and I took them back and they put something else on the lenses and then they were fine. I have also found that mine stay clearer if I wash them with water and liquid dish soap instead of usuing the special lense cleaner.

Ooh, I'll have to try the dish soap thing for a quick fix. I never used the lense cleaner because I was way too cheap to buy it. Either way, it still looks like I need to make a trip back to Lenscrafters.

Hopefully they can fix them for you without having to give you new lenses.
I have only bought the lense cleaner once when I found it at Wal-Mart for $3 for a big bottle and it came with a "free" small bottle. It has lasted me a long time since I usually clean them with the dish soap.

The Lenscrafters lady told me that apparently rubbing alcohol works best to clean the gunk. How odd is that?

She said to come back if that doesn't work.

I've never heard that before. I will have to try that on mine and see if it works. Mine have seemed really fuzzy lately and is getting really annoying.

Seems to work pretty well for me.

I know that one of the coatings I had was scratched from the beginning and they fixed for free, but I keep mine in a lens cloth in my case, but I hardly need mine.

These always seem dingy. I can see streaks where she cleaned them, still.

Blah. have you tried rubbing alcohol?

[identity profile] devilgrrl.livejournal.com 2007-01-27 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I did and it seems to work really well.

I hear even diluted rubbing alcohol works well too...50/50 with water I think.
