Blessing

Today, Steven asked for my grandfather's permission to have my hand in marriage. He got permission, as well as my grandfather's blessing and a warm welcome into the family and some advice for a happy relationship.

Steven is still waiting to make his "official" proposal and we are not setting a date yet, but I am definitely going to start looking at dresses and Steven wanted to do some cake tasting and bring some samples back to my grandparents so they can feel involved in the planning. Since my mom eloped, this is one of those things that means an awful lot to my grandmother.

Oh, and my grandfather was absolutely delighted that Steven asked him for his permission to marry me. My father never did that (obviously, since they eloped-- my mom called that night and told them "Oh, by the way, Will and I got married." They were pissed.) So many brownie points won for Steven today...

(probably going to be x-posted in [livejournal.com profile] weddingplans )

I thought so! I knew he was intending to ask, but I didn't exactly know when.

Thank you! He knew how much it meant to my grandfather, especially given what happened with my mom.

That is SO SWEET! I am super happy for you, congrats! My fiance did the same thing really, he asked my dad before he even asked me! hahha! They went and picked out my engagement ring together and I didn't even know! But yeah, like you said, major brownie points.

Thank you! We've been unofficially engaged since October, but he had told me he was not going to ask officially until after he had talked to my grandparents. So now, back to the waiting game ^.^

Did your dad and fiance do well picking out your ring? I'd trust Steven with jewelry, but not my father. My mom went out and bought her own ring because my father had such rotten taste.

They did a beautiful job, they picked exactly the ring I think I would have picked out! My dad's taste is a little more gaudy than mine, but Adrian was there to tone it down a bit, they both knew that I detest yellow gold and that I would want a solitaire!

Gotta love men with good taste. Does Adrian do clothing as well?

Well, he is one of the only men I've ever met who will honestly tell me if something looks good on me. I really cherish that about him, hahahhahaha!
