4.2 Thoughts

I'm kind of underwhelmed this week by the episode. It had good parts, but over all kind of meh.

I know a lot of people were really pissed with Starbuck last season, but I'm kind of feeling the same way about Roslin. I loved her last season, I really did, but she seems really ugly these first two episodes... not so much how she's treating Kara, but how she's treating the Old Man. It's true that they've followed her on visions and they've been right and it irks me she won't give Kara the same benefit of the doubt, especially in light of the whole Arrow of Apollo thing.

I love the echoes of the Old Man telling Tigh and Kara to shoot him or shape up when she hands Roslin the gun.

I did like the whole bullet through the photo of Adama and Roslin. Nice foreshadowing. It was also interesting how they were showing trouble in paradise: Adama not wanting to talk, Roslin bitching about his drinking (duh, Laura, everyone in the fleet is a drunk), and his telling her off, but not quite kicking her out. It's nice to see the Old Man growing a set again.

Cekrit Cylon meetings are still funny. I'm loving how Tigh's solution to the whole thing is that Tory should go flash some boobies to get Baltar talking. And Baltar plus Head Baltar is AMAZING. Dear James Callis, please clone yourself for maximum funny. At the same time, I do wonder where they'll be going with her and Baltar. I can't help but thinking there's something significant going on there.

The cylon rebellion kind of seemed anticlimatic. I need to stop watching trailers because it makes things seem really awesome. I know it's set up for next week and for trouble with Centurions, but it lacks. I do like the Natalie incarnation of Six and I really love Cavil's snark. Leoben seems somewhat less creepy, but I'm sure that will change. And, oh yes, Boomer is still spoiling things. I can't wait to see where that's going.

I did like the Kara/Lee scene. I love him saying he could never say no to her, I love that he obviously still loves her, and I love that he believes in her. I like that she puts out her hand, like she's honouring his choice of Dee (since my assumption is that she doesn't know they've split) and he makes the move to go to her. I hope they will do more with them because it seemed a little too neatly wrapped up for me to think things are done. Not to mention, why screw around when you have chemistry that sparks like that?

The Old Man did redeem himself in the end to me by giving Kara a ship. I would like to see who they sent for crew; it better not be useless Sam. I figured Helo and the Old Man would eventually buck up. If nothing else, Helo does the right thing all the time.
