I would highly recommend the book, as well as Phantom by Susan Kay. I've heard great things about the Toronto productions of Phantom. The Other Half and I will be seeing the US tour when in comes through Boston in April. I'm hoping this is better than the last tour I saw.

Oh, and if you get a copy of the original novel, I recommend the Lowell Bair translation. It's the most in depth.
